In organic chemistry, different types of reaction are possible. Different types of reactions are substitution reaction, elimination reaction, oxidation reaction and reduction reaction. Substitution reactions are of two types. One is an electrophilic and other one is the nucleophilic substitution reaction. Nucleophilic substitution reaction is the reaction in which one nucleophile is replaced by the other nucleophile. Opening of an epoxide ring followed by the attack of a nucleophile is a type of nucleophilic substitution reaction.
