In organic chemistry, different types of reaction are possible. Different types of reactions are substitution reaction, elimination reaction, oxidation reaction and reduction reaction. Glycol is a molecule is which two hydroxyl groups are present to the adjacent carbon atoms. In presence of an oxidizing agent alcohol is converted either into into a ketone or to carboxylic acid. The product formed is dependent upon the type of oxidizing agent used.
