Chapter 12, Problem 36RA
Summary Introduction
To review:
The difference between the organization of actin-myosin filaments in smooth muscles and striated muscles and the advantages of these differences.
Introduction:
The contraction of muscles occurs by the cross-bridge formation between the actin-myosin filaments of the muscles, which result in contraction of muscles by the shortening of sarcomere. The ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and Ca2+ (calcium ions) play a major role in the formation of cross-bridge of actin-myosin filaments.
