To Compare: The colors of light that are absorbed, reflected, and transmitted by the glass and by the shirt.
Answer to Problem 50R
Glass transmitted more light than shirt.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Typically, when light travels through a glass the light intensity is reduced. This absorption occurs when the energy of a photon of light matches the energy needed to excite an electron to its higher energy state within the glass, and the photon is absorbed by the glass.
When light ray fall on a glass most of the light are transmitted since a glass is transparent and some amount of light are reflected and some are absorbed. But a shirt absorbed most of the light since its surface is not smooth, reflected and transmit less amount of light.
Conclusion:
Hence, glass transmitted more light than shirt.
