Concept explainers
To Explain: The way a hologram is made.
Answer to Problem 25R
Hologram is made by using a single laser beam.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: A complete three-dimensional photographic image of any object is termed as Hologram. These types of three-dimensional photographic images are developed by the Holography technique.
The laser beam is divided into two beams by a special lens. The first part illuminates an object and also, reflects onto a photographic film. At the same time, second part of beam is also directed at the film.
The light from two beams forms an interference pattern on a film. When the laser light shines on the film’s pattern, a hologram image is produced.
Conclusion: By using a laser beam, three-dimensional photographic image is produced.
