Chapter 14, Problem 13PDQ
Summary Introduction
To determine: A reason why phenylketonurics are frequently more lightly pigmented when compared to normal individuals.
Introduction: Phenylketonuria is a rare disorder and it is caused by a deficiency in the generation or inability to generate a specific type of hepatic enzyme called phenylalanine hydroxylase (PHA). This enzyme converts the phenylalanine into tyrosine. In the body, it is the only function of phenylalanine hydroxylase.
