Introduction:
The annual physical inventory accounting requires the entire plant to be shut down for the day and all items comprising of raw materials, components, work in process, finished goods, maintenance spares and so on are counted and recorded. In cycle counting, a small subset of items is counted and recorded every day meticulously verifying the physical counting with records.
