The mechanism by which percent unloading of oxygen by hemoglobin increases in an anemic person or an individual at high altitudes.
Introduction:
Four oxygen molecules bind with a single molecule of hemoglobin to form the oxyhemoglobin. Oxygen transport in the body is one of the main functions carried out by the red blood cells (RBCs). Due to several inherited diseases, there might be a change in the configuration of the genetic material coding for the synthesis of the RBCs which leads to alterations in the shape of the RBCs. An alteration in the shape of RBCs has many adverse effects on the oxygen transport in the body.
