Chapter 17, Problem 5RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
Different glands and their histological structures.
Introduction:
Histology is called the study of the microanatomy of cells, tissues, and organs. It is a correlation between structure and function. Various endocrine glands have different histological structures. Endocrine glands can consist of epithelial cells, neurons that secrete hormones, muscle cells, and cells like fibroblast.

a) Identify organs where you can find each gland.
b)In one sentence or phrase, differentiate each gland
1.Merocrine Gland
2. Holocrine Gland
3.Apocrine Gland
4.Endocrine Gland
.
Compare and contrast the following pairs of terms:a. Endocrine gland and exocrine glandb. Unicellular gland and multicellular glandc. Holocrine secretion and merocrine secretion
Which gland type—merocrine or holocrine—would you expect to have the highest rate of cell division? Why?
