Introduction:
Endocrine glands secrete messenger molecules called hormones. They are secreted into the extracellular spaces and diffuse into capillaries through which they can travel across the body. They bind and stimulate specific receptors located on the target cells. They possess the ability to affect the functions of distantly located organs.
