The thymus is a lymphoid organ, which is present behind the sternum and in between the cells. The thymus has a major role in providing adaptive immunity in the body, this act as the site in the body, in which T (Thymus) cells get mature. Thymus starts to shrink or reduce after an individual attains puberty due to deposition of adipose tissue. T cells present with inthe thymus are responsible for preventing disease in the body by providing immunity to the body.
