Chapter 18, Problem 18.65UTC
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation: What is an excitatory neurotransmitter?
Concept introduction:
Neuron consists of cell body and numerous filaments known as dendrites at one end and axon which ends at axon terminal at other end. Axon terminals of nerve cells form junction with dendrites of other nerve cells called synapses.
When electrical signal reaches axon terminal of nerve cell, neurotransmitters are released into synapses. They diffuse through synapses and are taken up by dendrites of nearby nerve cells.
