Question
Chapter 18, Problem 31P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The reason for mitochondrial disorders leading to lactic acidosis.
Concept introduction:
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the energy source in the human body. It is formed in mitochondria, due to this mitochondria is also termed as the powerhouse of the cells. ATP contains three highly energetic phosphate groups. When any kind of energy consuming activity is performed by the body, then these phosphate groups get hydrolyzed from ATP, yielding a large amount of energy.

surfactant. She has signs of low oxygen and high carbon dioxide.
Explain why the lack of surfactant would result in respiratory distress. Furthermore, what type of acid-base disorder might she develop and how would her body compensate. Be detailed in your explanation and support your answer with facts from your textbook, research, and articles from scholarly journals. In addition, remember to add references in APA format to your posts to avoid plagiarism.
