To find: The correct option.
Answer to Problem 2STP
Option (a)
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Any physical quantity which has both direction as well as magnitude is known as vector quantity. Vector changes when either its direction or magnitude changes. Vectors cannot be added or subtracted algebraically.
Option (a) is correct. Because vector length is used to show the magnitude of vector quantity. It is also used to represent the change in the magnitude by increasing or decreasing its length accordingly.
Option (b) is not correct. Vector diagrams do not necessary solve all the physics problems. It is required only to solve vector related problems. Vector problems are solved with the help of vector properties.
Option (c) is not correct as the vector definition says vector is a quantity with both direction as well as magnitude.
Option (d): All the quantities in physics are not vector. Those quantities which does not tell us about their direction are known as scalar quantities. Example mass, length, temperature etc.
Conclusion:
(a) is the correct option. Vector length is proportional to its magnitude
