Summary Introduction
To review:
The functions of smooth endoplasmic reticulum in muscle cells and hepatocytes.
Introduction:
In a typical eukaryotic cell, a system of interconnected membranous tubules, largely flattened sacs, and vesicles surrounding the nucleus are generally called the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It constitutes more than half of the entire membrane of a cell thatforms the endoskeleton of the cell. ER also plays a role in the synthesis of different kinds of protein, steroid molecules, and membrane lipids. ER plays a role in the transport of proteins or other components from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, and the storage of calcium.

- QUESTION NO. 1L-Carnitine is synthesized primarily in the liver but also in the kidneys and then transported to other tissues. It is most concentrated in tissues that use fatty acids as their primary fuel, such as skeletal and cardiac muscle. In this regard, L-carnitine plays an important role in energy production by conjugating to fatty acids for transport from the cytosol into the mitochondria.
