Chapter 21, Problem 21.142CQ
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Match each of the following processes with one of the items .
(1) Replication of DNA (2) Transcription (3) Translation (4) Recombinant DNA (5) Reverse transcription |
(a) Amino acids are linked together (b) RNA template is used to synthesize DNA. (c) Helicase unwinds DNA (d) Genetic information is transferred from DNA (e) Sticky ends join new DNA segment |
Concept introduction:
The DNA is the genetic material in most of the organism present in the world. The DNA codes for the amino acids, which forms the protein to carry out different functions in the living organisms.
The DNA is first transcribed into mRNA, this process is known as the transcription. After the transcription, the produced mRNA helps in the formation of the amino acid sequence. This process is known as translation. In some bacteria, the genome is made up of RNA. Hence, they require enzyme reverse transcriptase, which forms DNA from the RNA strands.
