The functional groups are those atoms or groups of atoms that are bonded in hydrocarbon with the main chain of the hydrocarbon.
The functional group is used to describe the characteristics properties of any organic compound. The properties of base hydrocarbon differ vastly from its derivative due to the presence of these groups of atoms.
The number of functional groups present in the molecule can be one or more than one.
