Concept Introduction:
In fatty acid synthesis, condensation of acetyl CoA and malonyl CoA is driven by condensation. This decarboxylative condensation of acyl group with malonyl ACP to produce a ß ketoacyl-ACP intermediate is catalyzed by ß ketoacyl ACP synthase.
