Introduction:
Placenta is formed within the uterus at the time of pregnancy. It is responsible for providing oxygen as well as nutrients to the growing baby and is also involved in the removal of the waste products from the fetal blood. The placenta becomes attached to the uterine wall and the umbilical cord originates from it.
