Introduction:

In our daily lives, we are immersed in the air so that the light we perceive has actually interacted with the air. The water refractive index has a value of 1.33 while in the air it is 1.00. This means that the water refractive index is higher than in air. In other words, the light that our eye perceives comes from a medium with a lower index of reaction and enters a medium with a greater refractive index in the air-eye interface

In the particular case in which we are underwater, whether it is sea water or fresh water, the light is significantly refracted so that the rays of light do not enter parallel to the eye due to the change in the medium. In other words, the rays of light come from the air, and at the air-water interface it is refracted then it passes to the water-cornea interface where another refraction occurs.
