The powerof a lens depends inversely of the distance object and distance image. In the human eye the distance image is about 2.00 cm. The function of contact lenses is to correct the quality of the image that the patient perceives, this is nothing more than focusing the rays that enter the retina at the same point.

Between contact lens and eye lens there are a series of layers with a refractive index similar to water which help the rays enter the eye in parallel.

Some of the layers are cornea, aqueous humor, vitreous humor and a thin layer of tears...
