The prokaryotic cells are simple in structure and arrangement of DNA though some prokaryotic cells exhibit some specialized membranes such as thylakoid membranes to perform metabolic functions. In general, the thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts resemble to the thylakoid membranes present in cyanobacteria.
