The functioning and structure of a forward biased diode.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A diode is a semiconductor device which permits current to pass through only in one direction. This is the forwards bias connection of the diode. In the reverse bias the diode does not allow any current to pass through.
A diode is made up of two layers, one P type and other N type, fused together. In forward bias, battery’s positive terminal is connected to the P junction while the negative terminal to the N junction. In this circuit, the electrons from the N junction flow to P junction inside the diode, and hence the current flows in the circuit.
Conclusion:
In the forward bias, the electrons from the N junction flow to P junction inside the diode, and hence the current flows in the circuit.
