Introduction:

The input waveform is sinusoidal.During the negative half cycle, the diode is reverse-biased, so there is no current in the circuit and no voltage across point A. for the positive half-cycle the diode is forward biased, current flows in the circuit and produces a voltage across the load and point A.

Only positive half-cycle appears across the point A, the time-versus-amplitude graph would should only the positive half-cycle.

The graph obtained represents a half-wave rectifier.
