Seed dormancy is a condition, in which the seeds fail to germinate under the effect of unfavorable environmental conditions. For example, if there is less water or if the seeds are shaded by the canopies of the trees and are not able to receive the necessary amount of light that is needed for germination, they remain dormant for that period of time.
