Answer to Problem 1NV

The given blank can be filled as follows:

    BlankTerm
    1Complement proteins
    2Interferons
    3Lymphocytes
    4Antibody
    5B cells
    6Helper T cells
    7Cytotoxic T cells
    8Memory cells
    9Immunization

Explanation of Solution

Complement proteins are responsible for enhancing phagocytosis and binding better to the pathogens. IT activates the phagocytes by binding and results in the destruction of pathogenexternal membrane.

Interferons are the proteins secreted by the infected cells that bind to cell nearby it and stimulates the cells to release antiviral proteins.

Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell, which is involved in the immunity and are matured in bone marrow.

Antibodies are the proteins that specifically reacts to the pathogens. The B cells are chief producers of the antibodies.

The T Helper cells aids in the killing of microbes and activate the B Cells for the secretion of antibiotics.

Cytotoxic T cells are responsible for destruction of the pathogens and they also release cytokines.

Memory cells are lymphocytes that are long living. They are formed after the primary infection of a pathogen and attacks the pathogen when the body encounters ssame pathogen again.

Immunization is a process, in which an antigen is inserted in the body in order to elicit a primary immune response. This primary response result in formation of memory cells, so, when the pathogen encountered again, the secondary response kills the pathogen more effectively.
