Summary Introduction
Introduction:
A contraceptive is a drug or method or device that helps prevent pregnancy. It interferes with the normal method of ovulation, fertilization, and implantation to prevent pregnancy. It is also termed as birth control. Methods of contraceptives can be either temporary or permanent.
- Temporary Method: It includes the barrier method, which prevents sperm from reaching an egg. Temporary methods are condoms, vaginal diaphragms, birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), etc.
- Permanent Method: It includes a surgical process that permanently prevents the transport of sperm through the reproductive tract. Permanent methods are tubal ligation (in women) and vasectomy (in man).
