Summary Introduction

To review:

The given blank space in the statement, “After each description, fill in the appropriate term: “workbenches” of the cell: ______; comes in rough and smooth forms: ______; site of ribosomes production: _______; a stack of flattened membranous sacs: _______; outermost layer of plant cells: ______; ferries blueprints for protein production from the nucleus to the cytoplasm: ________.”

Introduction:

A cell is composed of various organelles that play a variety of roles in order to maintain the overall functions of the cell. These organelles not only play their role but also regulate the functions of other organelles, that is, they are constantly interacting with each other in order to function.

For example, protein synthesis is initiated by transcription of deoxy ribonucleic acid (DNA) into messenger-ribonucleic acid (mRNA) inside the cell that is exported to the cytoplasm; ribosome gets attached to mRNA and starts the process of translation. This peptide reaches endoplasmic reticulum for folding and modification and then transported to Golgi apparatus where it is sorted, packaged, and transported further.

This way organelles interact and function among themselves.

From the image, what is the normal function of the missing structure?   A. A lipid bilayer controlling the movement of substances into and out of the cell   B. A motor protein that "crawls" along microtubules to contract and release them, which provides movement   C. A cytoskeleton element composed of tubulin subunits to provide structure for movement of the cell
List their functions (small amount of words will do)   Cell Membrane, cell coat, cell wall Nucleus: control center of the cell Protoplasm and its organelles Endoplasmic Reticulum: manufacturers and shippers of the cell a.1 Smooth ER a.2 Rough ER
In the micrograph below, you are seeing a collection of cells that have been stained with fluorescent dyes. One of the dyes appears green, and the other dye appears blue (when viewed with a fluorescence microscope). Based on the appearance of these stained cells, which of the following cell structures must the GREEN dye be staining? Endoplasmic reticulum Cytoskeleton Flagella Mitochondria Nucleus ..
