Question
Chapter 4, Problem 4CLE
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The relationship between the terms temperature, average kinetic energy, absolute zero and Kelvin is to be interpreted.
Concept introduction:
According to the kinetic molecular theory of gases, the average kinetic energy of the gas molecules is directly proportional to the absolute temperature (i.e., temperature in Kelvin scale). The temperature in Kelvin scale is the absolute zero of temperature where a gas does not exist. The gas molecules have an average kinetic energy, since all the molecules of the gases do not have same kinetic energy value. Instead, some molecules have a lower kinetic energy and some have a higher kinetic energy.
