Chapter 6, Problem 17SQ
Summary Introduction

Introduction: On Earth, microbes can exist nearly every environment. This because microbes are small, dispersed easily, need a little amount of nutrients, occupy little space, and diverse in their requirements. However, the growth of microbes can be influenced by a variety of factors, both biochemical and physical. Physical factors include temperature, pH, hydrostatic pressure, moisture, and oxygen concentration. Biochemical factors include the availability of nitrogen, carbon, sulphur, trace elements, vitamins, and phosphorous.
