Chapter 7, Problem 7.11P
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Among the given compounds, the compounds that are chiral are to be drawn. Whether the individual chair conformations are chiral or not for any of the achiral compound are to be stated. The relationship between the two chair conformations for any achiral compounds is to be stated.

Concept introduction:

A carbon atom that has four non-equivalent atoms or groups attached to it is known as chiral carbon atom. Chiral carbon centers are also called as asymmetric or stereogenic centers. Carbon atom that has at least two equivalent atoms or group is known as achiral carbon atom.

Enantiomer of a compound has opposite configuration. Diastereomers of a compound have at least one stereogenic center with same configuration and at least one stereogenic center with opposite configuration.

assign the stereochemical configuration of the selected tetrahedral carbon chiral centers (R, S or N (not a chiral center)) and the alkene (E, Z or N (not a stereocenter)) that are indicated by the arrows (note that you do not have to assign the configuration of every chiral center in the molecule). If the atom in question is not a chiral center or is not a stereocenter circle N for neither.
