Introduction: Oswald Avery, Colin MacLeod, and Maclyn McCarty extracted purified chemical component of S cells. The extracted components were carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and nucleic acids. They injected different strains of R and S cells into mice and analyzed the pattern of results.
