Interpretation: The explanation for cold sensation on touching the metal in comparison to plastic at same temperature should be provided.

Concept Introduction: The sensation of cold and hot depends on the flow of heat from and to one substance to the hand.

Explanation of Solution

Metals are very good conductors of heat whereas the plastics do not conduct heat. So, on touching metal and plastic at same temperature, the metal piece will conduct heat from the hand and gives a cold sensation and on the other hand, plastic piece feels relatively warmer than metal piece as plastic do not conduct heat.

Hence, at room temperature the piece of metal feels colder than a plastic.
