Cause of vertical momentum.
Answer to Problem 33SSC
Due to impulsive force of earth, vertical momentum will occur.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Momentum:
Product of mass of a body and its velocity is equal to the momentum of that body.
When the athlete vaults over the crossbar,at that time the Earth’s impulsive force will act opposite to pole. Due to this impulsive force, a momentum will act in vertical direction. This momentum will have equal magnitude but will act in an opposite direction along vertical direction.
Conclusion: Due to impulsive force of earth, vertical momentum will occur.
