Answer to Problem 1E

When a light strikes an absorbing material, the light waves get absorbed and the energy gets converted to heat. This clearly shows that light carries energy.

Explanation of Solution

Electromagnetic waves are mixed magnetic and electrical disturbances which are able to travel indefinitely through empty space. Like all waves they carry energy from one place to another. Light is an electromagnetic wave. When a light strikes an absorbing material, the light waves get absorbed and the energy gets converted to heat. This clearly shows that light carries energy.
