Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The reason for cool sensation of beaker during an endothermic reaction taking place in a beaker needs to be explain.

Concept Introduction: In thermodynamics, a matter or region on which analysis are to be made is known as system whereas everything external to system is known as surrounding.

Endothermic and exothermic processes are defined on the basis of energy involved. The addition of energy is endothermic whereas loss of energy is exothermic.

Explanation of Solution

System is defined by beaker and surrounding is the atmosphere that surrounds the beaker.

Sinceit is an endothermic reaction so, the heat energy is added/supplied the system. The heat energy added/supplied the system is absorbed from surroundings and thus, it results in lower temperature of surroundings and as a result, the endothermic reactions taking place in a beaker cause the beaker to feel cold.
