Let the basis of the calculations be 800 lbs feed/day. Solids are represented by ‘S’ and water by ‘W’. There are two units in the given process: Dryer and Oven.

nI is the mass flowrate of the intermediate, nW1 is the mass flowrate of water evaporated from the dryer, nP is the mass flowrate of the product stream, and nW2 is the mass flowrate of the evaporated water from the oven.
