Chapter 13, Problem 13.46AP
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Among the compounds A, B, C, D and E, the compound that belongs to the given NMR is to be stated. The reason as to why the resonance at δ3.7 is so complex is to be stated.

Concept introduction:

NMR spectroscopy is a technique used to determine the unique structure of the compounds. It identifies the carbon-hydrogen bonding of an organic compound. A hydrogen atom is called as a proton in the NMR spectroscopy.

The more the shielded proton lesser will be its chemical shift value and the corresponding signal will be produced at the right-hand side. The protons which are chemically equivalent have identical chemical shifts.

Draw the structure of molecular formula C8H10O that produced the 1H NMR spectra shown below. The IR spectrum does not show a broad absorbance at 3300 cm–1 or a strong absorbance at 1710 cm–1.
How could you distinguish between these two compounds by spectroscopy? State which type you would use (IR, ¹H NMR, or 13C NMR) and what you would see for which compound. CH₂ butanal CH3
Find how many peaks will appear in the proton (1H) NMR spectrum and carbon (13C) NMR spectrum of each molecue.  Don't take into account splitting in the proton(1H) NMR
