Concept introduction: Notch-Delta system of receptors has direct and rapid amplification steps to reach the nucleus and begin gene transcription. The receptor is activated when the ligand binds to the extracellular site of the receptor. A part of Delta receptor gets cleaved on the intracellular side and it is diffuses along the cytosol from the plasma membrane and reaches the nucleus to initiate transcription by activating transcription factors.
