Chapter 17.1, Problem 3CC
Summary Introduction

To determine: The ratio of “T” to “t”allele in the F2 progeny and identify if the ratio is similar to the phenotypic ratio 3:1.

Introduction: An allele is defined as a variant of a gene responsible for coding a specific character. There are atleast two different alleles for each phenotypic characteristics. One allele is dominant while the other form of the allele is recessive. The interaction between the alleles is responsible for different phenotypic traits. These interactions can produce three types of genotypes: homozygous dominant, heterozygous and homozygous recessive.

QUANTITATIVE Recall that hemophilia is an X-linked recessive disease. If a woman with hemophilia had children with a man without hemophilia, what is the chance that their first child will have the disease? What is the chance that their first child will be a carrier?
Give typing answer with explanation and conclusion  1. Is it harder or easier to find the genes for polygenic traits than for traits controlled by single genes? Why?
Give typed explanation  In pea plants, the tall allele (T) is dominant to the dwarf allele (t) and the yellow pea color allele (Y) is dominant to the green pea color allele (y). Cross TtYy with Ttyy. What would be the genotype and phenotype ratios in their offspring? (Please include the gametes produced by each parent.)
