Explanation of Solution

The difference between furuncle and carbuncle is mentioned below:

Furuncle Carbuncle
These are boils, which are basically skin abscesses that occur from the infection of S taphylococcus bacteria. They affect the surrounding tissue and the hair follicle. They develop quickly as pink or red bumps. The neighboring skin is inflamed, tender, and is usually red. They are also painful. These are groups of furuncles, which attach together beneath the skin tissue. They affect the deeper section of the skin, which can lead to the condition known as scarring. It is less common as compared to the furuncle. The mass of boils occurs onto one site, which is larger than a single boil and also comprises one or more opening, which drains the pus onto the skin.
Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that furuncle is basically a boil wherein the abseces occurs underneath the skin, whereas carbuncle is basically the absecesoccurring in the deeper layers of the skin.
