Question
Chapter 24, Problem 13P
Summary Introduction
To explain: Reason that when a bacterial chromosome is cleaved at a specific site by a restriction enzyme only nearby genes exhibit either an increase or decrease in expression. But, the transcription of genes elsewhere in the chromosome is unaffected.
Introduction: In bacteria, DNA topology influences the transcription of a subset of genes, with increasing or decreasing expressions, when DNA is relaxed. When a restriction enzyme cleaves a bacterial chromosome at a specific site, only nearby genes are present with increased or decreased expressions. However, the transcription of chromosome that occurs at different place is unaffected.
