To discuss:
The structure of a typical tooth and periodontal tissues; four kinds of teeth and the number and position of each; the mode of replacement of deciduous teeth by permanent teeth; and functions of mastication.
Introduction:
The mouth is otherwise called as buccal cavity or oral cavity. The tongue is bulky and muscular, which moves easily and quickly. It is one of the sense organs. It skillfully controls the food between the teeth without being bitten. The salivary glands in the mouth secrete saliva. The teeth are jointly called as dentition. They make the food simple to swallow by the mastication process in which the food is broken into smaller pieces.
