Introduction:
The gastric mucosa contains numerous pocks named as gastric pits that are lined with columnar epithelial cells. At the bottom of every gastric pit, the tubular glands (2 or 3) open and extend to the remaining part of the lamina propria, which are the pyloric and cardial zone; they are known as pyloric and cardial glands and the remaining of the stomach is referred to as gastric glands. These glands collectively consist of five types of cells but differ in their cellular composition.
