White blood cells (leukocytes) are considered as most important cells that involved in protecting the body from infectious agents.  Macrophages and lymphocytes are two types of leukocytes. Lymphocytes (T cells, B cells, and NK cells), neutrophils, and macrophages are considered as cells of the immune system.
