The pineal gland is an endocrine gland, which is attached to the hypothalamus and is present in the brain. The direct mechanical control for the pineal gland is done by the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus. The suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus releases the melatonin hormone, which regulates the biological clock.
