Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The reason for the shielding to be vital in the glass electrodes design having value of an internal resistance ${10}^6\Omega$ or more is to be explained.

Concept introduction:

Glass electrode act as a chemical sensor, it uses a glass membrane as a surface for sensing. This is opposite to the one that uses a solid-state membrane or an organic membrane. In the glass, a material is present which is sensitive to the material which needs to be measured. Shielding is important when designing glass electrodes.
