Explanation of Solution

The treatments can be (the two doses must be the same for each administration method): dose one orally, dose two orally, dose one injection under skin, dose two injection under skin, dose one injection into vein, dose two injection into vein.

To describe an appropriate completely randomized design.

Explanation of Solution

The randomly selected subjects should be given all six treatments in order to determine how each treatment performs on them. Therefore, the six treatments should be assigned to each of the subjects in a random order.

(c)

To describe what advantages does the experiment designed in (a) have over these two separate experiments taken together.

Explanation of Solution

The design in part (a) will be a lot less time-consuming and costly, because we only have to run an experiment once, while we have to run (at least) 2 experiments when the dose and method of administration are checked separately.
