To determine:
Definition of the terms thylakoid, granum, stroma, pigments, NADP+, Calvin cycle, rubisco
Explanation of Solution
Thylakoid: It is the membrane-bound structure where the light-dependent reaction in the photosynthesis process takes place.
Granum: A granum is a stack of thylakoids in the chloroplast which contains light-harvesting structures.
Stroma: The stroma is the fluid present in the chloroplast and the thylakoids and grana are surrounded by the stroma.
Pigments: In plants, pigments are the structures, which absorb the light and give a specific color to the part they are present in.
NADP+ (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate): It is a reducing agent that can accept an electron to form NADPH. In plants, it is produced during the light reactions of photosynthesis and utilized in the Calvin cycle.
Calvin cycle: It is the cycle in which the carbon from carbon dioxide is used to form three carbon sugar molecules.
Rubisco: It is an enzyme involved in the Calvin cycle, it is involved in the carbon fixation during photosynthesis and oxygenation of the resulting compounds at the time of photorespiration.
