Summary Introduction
To describe: Amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and maternal blood sampling including its advantages and disadvantages.
Introduction: Amniocentesis refers to the prenatal diagnosis of genetic abnormalities or fetal infections. It is also called amniotic fluid test (AFT). Chorionic villus sampling is also used for the same purpose. Chorion is basically a membrane that surrounds the fetus. This membrane has many villi on its surface.
